ABOUT PRIVATLOCKER

  • Who owns Privatlocker?

    Privatlocker board of directors and shareholders are a combination of chartered accountants, security experts and software developers.  

  • What happens if Privatlocker closes?

    Rest assured you will not lose anything with Privatlocker. You own all of the personal information in your Privatlocker and you can download or print it at any time. In the event Privatlocker ceased operations, we would ensure our users receive access to a copy of their plan for printing or digital safekeeping elsewhere.  

  • How does Privatlocker work?

    Privatlocker is Software as a Service to save your critical documents. Sign in to either the web application or mobile application.  

    You will be able to use all the features of Privatlocker and there is no obligation to stay. You don’t need to provide your credit card until you upgrade. 

    By upgrading to a premium account, you will be able to add Lockers and increase your capacity to secure more documents, photos, videos and recordings.  

  • Can I delete Privatlocker?

    If a Privatlocker account holder dies, we will automatically work with their Privatlocker Trustee or an authorised agent of their estate to access their account and eventually permanently delete the account. An authorised agent will need to verify their identity and provide the deceased’s death certificate. This is required
    to protect the privacy of our users and to prevent unauthorised requests.  

  • Do I need to download software?

     No. Privatlocker is a web app so there is no need to download anything. You can access and manage your Privatlocker account by logging into our website from any web browser on your phone, tablet or computer.  

  • I’ve already saved my documents, should I still sign up?

     Yes! No matter what you’ve already done, you’ll find value in the simplicity and organisation of Privatlocker to keep what is most important to you in one safe place with instructions where to find the original documents.  

  • Is my Privatlocker Wishes document legally binding?

     None of your instructions nor wishes in your Wishes document are legally binding. However, as you work your way through, answering questions and providing information for your loved ones we help you understand which documents you need to create and where to find them. Here you can record: 

    · Emergency contacts

    · Location of physical documents 

    · Heath wishes

    · Digital wishes

    · Legal wishes

    · Financial wishes

    · Funeral wishes

    · Anything else

    Once your documents are legal, upload them to Privatlocker for safekeeping and easy reference. 

    Then there are other end-of-life decisions that your loved ones should know about for them to carry out if possible. By answering the standard questions inside the Wishes document, your instructions and wishes for things like persons to be informed, funeral arrangements, dependents and pet care are recorded to provide helpful guidance to your loved ones at a time of sadness.

  • Does Privatlocker replace my legal documentation?

    Privatlocker does not replace or supersede any legally binding documentation. Nor does it form part of a person’s medical, financial or will & last testament. Consultation with a legal professional is recommended for users who do not have an active Will.  

  • Do I need a lawyer?

     You do not need a lawyer to benefit from the Privatlocker Legacy Administration Platform. We provide you with everything you need to create your plan without an estate planning lawyer. 

    There are however situations and arrangements for which the expertise of a lawyer is helpful, for example when drafting legal documents such as your last will and testament, living will, power of attorney or creating a trust. These documents can then be saved in your Privatlocker.  

  • How would my family access my plan if something happened to me?

     Your loved ones would be able to access your plan with the help of your Privatlocker Trustee who would be able to access your account when we receive proof of identity and evidence of your situation. Your Privatlocker Trustee is set when you create your account.  

    If you have shared your Locker with loved ones they would naturally be able to access those Lockers you have shared with them already and your privacy settings would remain in effect, with each person only allowed to access what you explicitly chose to share with them. Once your Privatlocker Trustee has been granted access, your account and all the information it contains would be preserved and remain accessible for 12 months. 

  • What is Privatlocker Legacy Administration Platform?

     Privatlocker is an end-of-life digital vault to protect and organise critical information for your loved ones in a high security Google cloud environment. It also helps you to manage day-to-day and time-critical matters on the go, while also capturing and celebrating milestone moments. 

    All of us are affected by our digital lives with many digital accounts. But important documents and precious memories should be kept somewhere special, in one place and especially safe. 

    Being organised with everything we need at our fingertips and in one place reduces the time taken to get through our busy lives with the need refer to documents daily. Being prepared for emergencies with Privatlocker means reduced stress and faster recovery times.

  • How can I help my family get their affairs in order?

     Simply sit down with your loved one and walk them through the Privatlocker folders, it’s intuitive and a checklist for what they should be keeping safe, and they’ll pick it up in no time.  

  • Why is Privatlocker preferred to other digital vaults?

     Not only does Privatlocker provide standard digital vault high security, in addition to the standard 2FA and encryption, it provides you with PIN protection and zero trust features so that you can be assured that only you (and people who you have allowed access to your Lockers) can see your data. 

    Privatlocker is a dedicated
    Legacy Administration Platform that has a combination of unique features to provide you with the best experience when planning for the unexpected.  

    1. All users are provided with a default folder structure that can be used as a checklist for the critical information that should be stored. 

    2. Privatlocker vault allows you to create unlimited additional Lockers to store your family’s critical information. You can choose to enable
    access for family members by providing them with access to just their own Locker or multiple Lockers, as you choose. 

    3. Privatlocker Executor System: Should anything happen to you, on receipt of proof of identity and proof of death or incapacitation, Privatlocker will provide access to your nominated Privatlocker Trustee. 

    4. In addition to securing critical documents and information you are able to record your end-of-life Wishes. 

    5. Continuous cross-platform access requiring email, password and PIN to access your Privatlocker.

SECURITY

  • Why do I need a PIN (Personal Identification Number)?

    Password protection is standard but your PIN is an extra layer of security that keeps your information entirely private. Your PIN is like a key to your private bank account. Without the PIN, you can’t access your account nor make payments.  

    Your PIN is so secretive that you are the only human that knows what it is. 

    Your PIN gives you complete ownership and control over your Privatlocker and the data and files you put inside your Lockers. However, it also means that you are responsible for ensuring that your PIN is safe and secure at all times. 

    When set, the PIN will be required when you sign in from any device to verify your identity. If you lose your PIN, you will lose access to your account, and no person or company can get it back. However, we will be able to enable you to re-set it on provision of proof of your identity and other security checks.   

  • Can I trust Privatlocker with my data?

    Yes you can. The Privatlocker team takes your security very seriously. We are committed to protecting your privacy and security, HIPAA compliant, employ bank-level security, and all of your data is protected in transit and at rest with 256-bit AES encryption and 2048-bit certificates with added PIN protection. 

    Privatlocker is GDPR compliant for our European users, which means we abide by strict UK and European Union rules for handling, protecting, and allowing users to manage their own data. 

    Privatlocker employees do not have access to your documents and we will never sell or share personally identifiable information with any 3rd party without your permission.  

SUBSCRIPTION

  • Can I cancel my subscription?

    Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time, directly from your Account Settings and with no cancellation fees. You will need to download all the documents and records you have saved as when you cancel your subscription you will not be able to access your Privatlocker.  

  • How does the Privatlocker free version work?

    When you sign up you will automatically have access to your Free Privatlocker that will enable you to add up to 10 documents and create your end-of-life Wishes instructions.  

  • Can I try before I buy?

    Privatlocker Starter plan is free for life so you can use all the features of Privatlocker free. If you need additional Lockers or Users or Storage Space simply upgrade to a paid plan.
